Get aboard the funding train

Although grant awards can't answer your need for long-term funding, they can be a vehicle for organizational growth. They can give you an interim boost–a puff of steam–providing your organization with a necessary short-term infusion of cash. This can be invaluable for taking your programs or services to the next level.

Grant proposals are also an excellent tool for planning. They require you to take stock of where you are and where you've been. They force you to map out carefully how you are going to get where you want to go and how you will know when you reach your targeted destination.

If this makes grant writing sound like an enormous opportunity for your nonprofit or tribe, it is. The trick is not to let the task of translating your ideas into concrete plans overwhelm or confuse you and deter you from moving forward. You want a proposal that successfully conveys the outstanding work you have done and plan to do and that captures funders' attention and convinces them to come on board.

Here are a variety of ways in which Grant Central Station can help you simplify grant writing and build effective, well-crafted proposals.

Grant writing–Organizations that are serious about winning grant funds sometimes feel it is in their best interest to hire a professional to write their proposal for them. I will work with you to ensure that your proposal reflects who you are and and what you intend to do, while also ensuring that you answer all of the funder's criteria. Click here to learn more.

    • Foundation research–It is important to find a fit between your proposal and the right corporate, private or community foundation, or federal request for proposal (RFP). I will work with your tribe or organization to identify good funding prospects for your proposals. Click here to learn more.
    • Project planning–The foundation of every strong proposal is a solid project plan. I will work with your organization or tribe to define your project goal and objectives, to identify a clear and compelling need, and to show the relationship between actions and outcomes.
